Can we imagine an 'Obama' in Uganda?

Scenario: A 47 year old man who was born in Kampala, has lived all his life in Uganda, his mother is Ugandan and he holds Ugandan citizenship. His father is Congolese and he uses his father's Congolese surname.

Question: Could this man ever be elected president of Uganda?

DMX, you are going too far. The question should be ... can we ever imagine the peaceful democratic handover of power in Uganda? Can any Ugandan who isn't hiding behind the barrel of the gun or boxes of doctored ballot papers ever win an election in Uganda?

I totally agree, the man will become president, as long as he is smart enough and intelligent to gain support from the Majority. I have a son with Ugandan citizenship, the mother is Ugandan and I , the father is Zimbabwean, he uses my surname. the problem with Ugandan politics is politics of the gun and fear, shame.

Thank God there are still objective people left in this bloody country. There is Hope.

I honestly believe that one's convictions and sense of duty and belonging should really determine whether you are fit to lead.....not one's parental descent. How ever the truth is that its next to impossible to stand as an MP outside your home (read tribal) area. So because of our prejudice we thus miss out on leadership we badly need.
